MIDI, short for 'Musical Instrument Digital Interface', is an industry standard for devices which create, record, and play back music. Common MIDI systems include a ~keyboard/synthesizer~, an amplifier, a ~mixer~, speakers, and an interface to the computer. Sometimes |CD-ROM| drives are added to play regular music CDs. The computer can record music played from MIDI capable instruments. These notes can then be ~sequenced~ back out to either to a synthesizer or the original instruments. This allows the computer to assemble and manipulate sections of music very easily.
